Shigaraki Ware – Rice Bowl Large – Glacier Ivory with Blue Design – 12cm (W) x 7cm (H)
This striking Shigaraki Ware rice bowl showcases the bold, artistic character that has defined Shigaraki pottery for centuries. Handcrafted in Shiga Prefecture, one of Japan’s oldest kiln regions, the bowl features a unique ?glacier ivory? base – an off-white, lightly textured surface enriched by natural kiln variations. Bold brushwork in rich brown tones sweeps across the exterior and interior, while vibrant pools of blue glaze create a dramatic contrast reminiscent of flowing water, melting ice, and natural mineral patterns found in the wild.
With its generous depth and beautifully rounded form, this 12cm bowl is perfect for rice, donburi-style small meals, soups, desserts, or shared table dishes. The textured surface and layered glazes make each bowl truly one-of-a-kind, celebrating the wabi-sabi beauty of handcrafted Japanese ceramics.
